1. The Work Mac Handshake

• Install Syncthing: Download and install the Mac version (the same one you put on your home iMac).

• Get the Server ID: Open your server dashboard on your phone or home Mac (http://172.239.56.79:8384) and go to Actions > Show ID.

• Connect: On the work Mac, click Add Remote Device and paste that server ID.

• The Wait: Give it a second for the “New Device” notification to pop up on your server dashboard and click Accept.

2. The Folder “Injection”

• Share from Server: On the server dashboard, edit the Obsidian folder, go to the Sharing tab, and check the box for your work MacBook.

• Accept on Work Mac: A notification will appear on the work Mac asking where to save the folder.

• The Path: Point it to a local folder (e.g., ~/Documents/ObsidianVault).

• Ignore Patterns: Immediately paste that “Anti-Junk” list into the Ignore Patterns tab for this folder on the work Mac to keep the museum’s network junk out of your personal vault.

3. Point the App

• Open the Obsidian app on your work Mac.

• Click the “Open folder as vault” icon (the safe).

• Select the folder you just synced.
